State of Mind

A young avid gardener spends her day attending to her plants, but gets deterred when unexplainable events take place. She must survive long enough to solve what is going on before she becomes a victim to the unexplained, unless she already has been.

Elise came up with the psychological thriller suspense "State of Mind" for her second sophomore project in her Directing class at Ringling College of Art + Design. This was a big change of pace for Elise, as she tends to come up with comedy, drama, or romance ideas. Even after doing a horror film once, a suspenseful thriller was still new territory for her.

The original concept for this project came from the liminal spaces trend that were circulating around the internet at the time. Elise researched what liminal meant and what it represented. The definition of liminal is "to be stuck between two states". That made Elise think, what does someone experience when stuck between the two states of life and death? "State of Mind" is Elise's artistic interpretation of that.
